So, I finally watched all of Garden State last night.
I’ve owned this movie for over a year, now, I think.
But before, I’ve always fallen asleep during the movie.
Maybe this time was different because I wasn’t watching alone.
Maybe it was different because there was a message that I needed to get from it.
This is it.
We get one shot, and that’s all.
How do we spend our days?
Where do we spend our nights?
Who do we associate with?
I’ve been guilty of the same as Largeman.
I’ve had point in my life where I was numb to everything around me.
I’ve spent years where I simply existed, not lived.
I was on some of the same medications.
And they didn’t help me either.
Feeling anything, even pain, is better than feeling nothing.
Life is full of emotion and feeling.
We would be cheating ourselves if we ignored it.
Jesus said he gives us life “more abundantly.”
More abundant joy.
More abundant pain.
That’s what life is.
More abundant stress.
More abundant peace.
For every valley, a peak.
Some days are better than others.
That’s natural, and that’s good.
The bad ones give us more reason to enjoy the good.
Today is a good day.
I’ve got nothing to do today but smile.
Half of the time we’re gone, but we don’t know where.
– Simon & Garfunkel : The Only Living Boy in New York
I’m living an abundant life.
Peace and love.
